Has the American public been held to ransom under the garb of 'war on terror'?
# Since the 9/11 terrorist strike the U.S. government till June 2006 had spent $ 432 billion in conducting what President Bush labeled as a ‘global war on terrorism’. Costs have only escalated and top democrats have proposed a war surtax to fund the ongoing wars.
# A large section of the American people have protested against the war in Iraq but they continue to pay taxes and the elected representatives whether in the senate or the congress continue to endorse President Bush’s war spending bills.
# Faced with living in a globally terrorized world, the American people continue to support the government’s war policy in order to secure domestic security.

YESSSSSSSSS.......

The American public has not only been held ransom, but been cheated time and again. There has been no clear evidence if 9/11 attack....They attacked Afghanistan even before the final Report had come. And in case of Iraq, the Government completely misled its people and the world.

I agree to this upto some extend, am not an american but according to the media its very clear that the puplic are the ones that has to suffer. Afghanistan is a country that was never defeated by another country in the history so far. I think the the citizens should rise their voice against the government (The Bush Government).

Yes! Bush first barges into Iraq on a false pretext and once after almost all the Iraqis start fighting each other and attack US forces, he has the cheek to say US is threatened by the turmoil in the country. What brazen bullying of the US people!
